We wanted to share a few of our new shop samples with you. Some are still progress and will be hanging soon while many are already on display.
We love this wonderful new fabric from Moda-Origins by Basic Grey is a colorful blend of greens, sky blue, rich browns, and shades of gold and this sample shows off all of the collection perfectly. Oh wait, there is a little bonus with this line! These little appliqué designs will surely enrich this garden wall.

What a great name for this pattern from Sarah Whiting - with so many traditional blocks-nine patch, pinwheels, flying geese, and more using lots of color and assorted fabrics!!!
This is a great pattern to use up some of your stash. Our sample is done in batiks but we'd love to see this in florals, reproductions or even seasonal fabrics like fall or even Halloween. This would look great in scraps too.
We are pleased to bring Sarah's patterns into our shop. This Arizona designer and calls her pattern line "Sweet Clover Canyon". This is what she shares on her website about her passion:

I have loved colors, shapes, and creating things since I was a little kid. After earning my computer graphics degree from the University of Missouri in 1988, I spent my professional career working in television designing both print and on-air graphics for local news stations. My grandmother had been a skilled quilter. In 1991, I took my first quilting class, as a tribute to her, having no idea I would love it so! Today, I am happily married and now a stay-at-home mom and entrepreneur. So, we were talking about Christmas (because it is so hot and muggy outside, we like to remember the good reasons for living in the desert) and Christmas projects. Here is a peek at the new Moda Christmas fabric by Basic Grey.

It's called "Fruitcake". We love the soft but rich colors that Basic Grey uses with subtle tone changes and the great assortment of Holiday images.And browsing through the Moda Bake Shop we found a link for instructions to make this very cute Christmas tree skirt.
This looks like a wonderful weekend project. We think that if we work on holiday projects, we can think "cooler". Do you agree?

Several weeks ago, we held a class featuring this beautiful Beyond the Block quilt (you can see it at the AQG Quilt Show in Mesa this weekend) and we were thrilled when one of the class members brought her interpretation of the quilt in to share with us.
Judy's selection of Asian print fabrics (sorry for the poor quality of the picture) was a perfect choice for this beautiful art quilt. We enjoy seeing your projects anytime, so bring them in and share them with us.
We have received new fabric this week. You have been asking for this and it is finally here. We love the soft rich colors of Snuggles from Moda. These are perfect for those baby projects and quilts and we have the perfect colors-Cherry, Aqua, Ivory and Black in bold colors and Baby Blue, Baby Pink, and Baby Mint in pastels.

Oh my gosh, I just opened a second wedding announcement for March!What am I going to do?
I could check out the list for the stores they are registered with and spend hours shopping for just the right something or....I could head right over the Zoe's Trunk and pick up a couple of kits and get busy doing what I love best.
The best part about both of these projects is that I could complete each in a day. Would you say "problem solved"? I would. I have never been so excited to get 2 wedding announcements in one month before this!

I can't wait to get started. They will love them as much as I do!

There is a special place in a quilter's heart for an appliqued quilt. We love them for the history, we love them for the stories they tell, we love them for the amount of time and talent it has taken the quilt-maker to create these beautiful quilts.
A lot of quilters also have a "love to hate relationship" with the applique process. It is labor-intensive to say the least. In fact, if you are like me, you have learned to "love" raw-edge applique because it's a "get 'er done" deal. But I still love needle-turn applique! There is a quality of workmanship that, like hand quilting, no machine can reproduce and that is a fact.
On the 3rd Monday of each month, a group of quilters that love to applique meet to share their skills, learn and share tips, and work on their selected projects. Last year they worked on a "block of the month" for an appliqued Christmas quilt.
This past Saturday, Fleda Gorbea brought her completed top in to share with us and we were thrilled to see it and share it with you.

The pattern is called "Scraphunter's Star", designed by Evelyn George. The entire cost of the pattern goes to Quilt for A Cause to help finance their programs.
