Arnold’s Attic, a new reproduction fabric line by Barbara Brackman for Moda has arrived and we love it.
Barbara's friend, Arnold, would occasionally send her samples of fabric he had found in his attic dating from his mother’s quilting days. As she received more and more, she used the samples as the basis for her newest fabric. I'll share some links to follow Barbara’s story and learn more about this great new line of reproduction fabrics.

This year we are featuring a wonderful new tool for creating the pineapple design quilt.
This tool eliminates paper-piecing and helps you piece stress-free. And it’s easy to use, insuring accurate piecing all the way.
Quilt historians consider the Pineapple design a variation of the Log Cabin quilts made popular in the late 19th century.

Pineapple style quilts are great ways to use all of those scraps we so diligently save from each quilt project. Just remember, there are no ugly fabrics in scrap quilts.

We wanted to share a few of our new shop samples with you. Some are still progress and will be hanging soon while many are already on display.
We love this wonderful new fabric from Moda-Origins by Basic Grey is a colorful blend of greens, sky blue, rich browns, and shades of gold and this sample shows off all of the collection perfectly. Oh wait, there is a little bonus with this line! These little appliqué designs will surely enrich this garden wall.

Just arrived-Amy Barickman’s newest publication, Vintage Notions. This book is a wonderful treasure of needle arts, kitchen tips, home decoration and ideas to improve the lives of women in the early 20th century. Amy’s source for this book is based on material from The Woman’s Institute of Domestic Arts and Sciences which was founded in 1916. Amy writes:
After discovering newsletters from the Institute and purchasing them based on the beautiful illustrations, I began reading the editorial writing and was compelled to rescue and introduce the content in a modern format…
As I have been following Amy’s blog (especially about this book) I have been anxiously awaiting this arrival. The reproduction illustrations are beautiful and bring life to a time when “home-art” was a very important part of every woman’s life. Some of us even remember taking Home Economics or belonging to Future Homemakers of America (FHA).
I am not old enough to recall or know about the Woman’s Institute of Domestic Art but as a granddaughter of that generation, I know the benefits of the time as I recall learning to embroider at Grandma’s house. We would go to the little 5 and Dime store on Main (Gilbert Rd) and purchase a pre-printed pillow case set or dish towel, some DMC thread (they were 3 cents each), another embroidery hoop and stay busy for the next 2 weeks.
Take a good look at this book next time you visit Zoe's Trunk. I know you will find it a treasure for your own collection.

What a great name for this pattern from Sarah Whiting - with so many traditional blocks-nine patch, pinwheels, flying geese, and more using lots of color and assorted fabrics!!!
This is a great pattern to use up some of your stash. Our sample is done in batiks but we'd love to see this in florals, reproductions or even seasonal fabrics like fall or even Halloween. This would look great in scraps too.
We are pleased to bring Sarah's patterns into our shop. This Arizona designer and calls her pattern line "Sweet Clover Canyon". This is what she shares on her website about her passion:

After earning my computer graphics degree from the University of Missouri in 1988, I spent my professional career working in television designing both print and on-air graphics for local news stations. My grandmother had been a skilled quilter. In 1991, I took my first quilting class, as a tribute to her, having no idea I would love it so!
