Maison De Garance

Moda’s French General has done it again! We are in love with their newest fabric line and it’s in the shop now. Maison de Garance is Here!!!

 

 

According the historical records, the House of Garance (Maison de Garance) was one of the only dye houses in France to cultivate all of the shades of the garance flower, a primary source of the madder (red). The walls of the Maison were covered in painted leaves which were hand-shaded colors of the plant to show off all of the hues.

Shop Hop 2010 and More

Let’s start off with some great Shop Hop news. It was a terrific Shop Hop and we were so glad to welcome each of you to our shop.

I know you are all waiting to hear who the prize winners were, so here it is.

Arnold’s Attic, a new reproduction fabric line by Barbara Brackman for Moda has arrived and we love it.

 

Barbara's friend, Arnold,  would occasionally send her samples of fabric he had found in his attic dating from his mother’s quilting days. As she received more and more, she used the samples as the basis for her newest fabric. I'll share some links to follow Barbara’s story and learn more about this great new line of reproduction fabrics.

Shop Quilts-New Patterns, New Fabrics

We wanted to share a few of our new shop samples with you. Some are still progress and will be hanging soon while many are already on display.

 

 
 
 BQ3 is a perfect pattern to feature beautiful large print fabric or special designs. The slightly angled blocks with innovative borders will showcase any print or fabric design you choose.

 

 
This wonderful twist on a favorite pattern is from one of our Zoe’s Rolls. The browns, golds and blues help create a colorful fall quilt project.

 

 

We love this wonderful new fabric from Moda-Origins by Basic Grey is a colorful blend of greens, sky blue, rich browns, and shades of gold and this sample shows off all of the collection perfectly. Oh wait, there is a little bonus with this line! These little appliqué designs will surely enrich this garden wall.

New Update

Just a quick reminder of our fun Saturday afternoon event - From 1 - 3 PM we will be exploring "Color with Friends".  Just bring a fat quarter of some colors you wish you could wear, think you might be able to wear..... you know, the ones you're just not sure of.  We'll share swatches AND tell each other the TRUTH about what does and does not make you look your best!!!  Just $5 reserves your spot!!

While you are in the shop, check out the recent additions to our Christmas and Halloween and Fall fabrics - some of which are already headed off to some wonderful projects!!

 

We are looking forward to getting out of the heat and enjoying a few days at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach.  (There just might be a space or two still available.............)  Days filled with quilty inspiration and shopping and nights relaxing on the beautiful Queen Mary.  We're busily preparing for our booth in the vendor mall, as well.  We've been creating new Jelly Roll and Charm Pack combinations which we will be offering there --- but YOU deserve first pick!!!!  Stop in this Saturday and you will receive the 13% discount on these items that we will be offering in the booth next weekend!!!

Speaking of Christmas...

So, we were talking about Christmas (because it is so hot and muggy outside, we like to remember the good reasons for living in the desert) and Christmas projects. Here is a peek at the new Moda Christmas fabric by Basic Grey.

It's called "Fruitcake". We love the soft but rich colors that Basic Grey uses with subtle tone changes and the great assortment of Holiday images.

And browsing through the Moda Bake Shop we found a link for instructions to make this very cute Christmas tree skirt.

This looks like a wonderful weekend project. We think that if we work on holiday projects, we can think "cooler". Do you agree?

Zoe's Trunk News

Did you know---- We are often asked if our samples are for sale.  While many of them are on loan from the designers, we do sell some of our retired samples through our friend Gail.  You can view them at her etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/shop/quiltsewpieceful.  Sometimes, it's just easier to buy that finished project. 

We've just unpacked another great line of Halloween fabric, this one from P&B Textiles, called "The Boo Crew".  It joins the shelf full of great Halloween prints we've already received.

Lumiere de Noel is Here!

What is there not to like about Moda’s line from French General!!! The colors are gorgeous and the designs are amazing. And the newest addition, Lumiere de Noel, will make your heart beat with excitement.

Toiles, plaids, rich reds, a mix of blends and now a beautiful line of trims to enhance your project.

We have fallen in love with this wonderful line and we know you love it too as it is going out of the store so fast, you will need to come in and make your selections while it’s available. 

Weekend Project

The Good News

 

The heat is on and you are invited to an old-fashioned ice-cream "sociable"!!  Bren of Brensan Studios will be on hand to show off her newest patterns with a summer-time twist.  She will have LOTS of samples on hand for you to see and enjoy.  Attendees will receive a coupon to apply toward purchases made that day.  Ice-cream, Inspiration and instant savings -- a perfect trio for a perfect day!!!! That is Saturday, June 19^th, 10 AM to 1 PM.

 

 

 

We are currently taking new participants in our monthly "Fat Quarter Roulette."  This creative group meets the first Saturday of the month to see which of them wins the next quilt's worth of blocks.  You can see the group of blocks grow as the month progresses on our clothesline.  Ask any of us for details. 

 

Party with Patrick will meet this coming weekend to put together two summery dragonfly placemats or a table-runner - your choice.   The $20 fee includes the fabric kit and pattern.  You can join in the fun by picking up your kit at any time, but those who attend the work session receive a $10 gift certificate.  Of course, goodies are served!!!  It's a PARTY!!!!!!!

 

Don't forget that June begins our "Little Green Card" summer savings promotion.  You must start the card in June (with 10% savings on your purchases) to get the bigger savings as the heat continues in July and August!
